Nexteer Automotive, a provider of steering and driveline merchandise, stated it could start momentary layoffs if the UAW’s strike towards Basic Motors is not resolved rapidly.
Dennis Hoeg, vp and North America division president of Nexteer, stated in a press release late Wednesday that “with out an imminent decision, Nexteer faces the tough conclusion to quickly scale back our workforce within the coming days because of the disruption in GM manufacturing.”
He did not present a quantity or an actual timeline.
“Our purpose is to return to full manufacturing as rapidly as attainable,” he stated within the assertion.
Leaders at UAW Native 699, which represents Nexteer staff in Saginaw, Mich., didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.
The UAW’s strike towards GM started on Sunday at 11:59 p.m. Forecasting agency LMC Automotive stated yesterday that GM would lose manufacturing of about 7,700 autos per day so long as the strike continued.
